Topcon appoints new Clinical Affairs Manager

Topcon Medical (GB) Ltd is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Catharine Chisholm as Clinical Affairs Manager for the UK and Ireland.

With more than 20 years’ experience in research and academia at the UK’s leading university optometry departments, Dr Chisholm joins Topcon from the University of Bradford School of Optometry and Vision Science where she has spent the past eight years as Lecturer.

A qualified optometrist with a PhD from Anglia Ruskin University, Dr Chisholm has also worked in independent practice where she developed her passion for contact lenses; she joined the Council of the British Contact Lens Association in 2004 and was its President from 2012-13.

In her new role at Topcon, Dr Chisholm will support practitioners across the UK and Ireland in harnessing the benefits and capabilities of Topcon ophthalmic products, including the latest OCT instrumentation. She will also help Topcon to build stronger links with university optometry departments, the government and NHS, help establish the Topcon University as a primary provider of eyecare education, and provide clinical training and support to the UK sales team.

Commenting on the appointment, Topcon Medical (GB) Managing Director, Andy Yorke, said: “We are delighted that Catharine is joining us at this exciting time as we further invest in our UK and Ireland clinical support team.

“As the leading supplier of OCT technology, both in optometry and ophthalmology, our commitment to providing the highest quality education to all of our customers is of paramount importance. The launch of the Topcon University and Catharine’s outstanding academic and teaching background will add a further dynamic to our existing team of clinical application specialists.”

Dr Chisholm said: “The enthusiasm and passion shown by the team at Topcon is second to none and I am very much looking forward to joining them. My role at Topcon will combine many of the areas I most enjoy, such as research, clinical matters and management in a fast-moving field. I’m very excited about working for a company at the cutting edge of eyecare instrumentation and look forward to the challenges and developments that lie ahead.”

Dr Chisholm will officially join Topcon GB at the end of June.
