Speed Of Sight Driving Experience

On Monday the 25th July Topcon GB Ltd invited a group of opticians to meet at Bedfordshire Autodrome racing circuit to take part in a track day experience like no other…

Topcon GB Ltd’s chosen charity Speed Of Sight provides life changing driving experiences for visually impaired and disabled people. Often in life, through the aging process, many adults lose the opportunity to drive legally either through limited eyesight, illness or disability.

Speed Of Sight brings back the opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to take part in a high octane driving experience that they never thought possible, through the design of specially built dual controlled track and off road cars. People can get behind the wheel for the first time driving around a racing circuit with breathtaking moments that will always stay with them.

The collective of opticians were able to witness first hand the work of the charity, seeing visually impaired and disabled clients taking part in this exhilarating driving activity. The affects the experience had on all involved were clear to see with raised state of emotions and excitement which were uplifting and inspirational.

Eyesight is something we all take for granted. Speed Of Sight turn this on its head when working with businesses to help them further appreciate and support what we do...

As well as enjoying the thrill of our driving experience themselves, this group of opticians also agreed to be blindfolded for one lap of the race track. Not only was this a daunting prospect but it really reinforced the impact of what they witnessed and what we are delivering.

Mike Newman CEO of Speed Of Sight, said: “without the support of companies like Topcon, who have a respect for the social value on visually impaired and disabled community, we would not be able to deliver these life changing experiences.”
