Optrafair’s new format and design provided a fantastic platform for another successful show
As we all attempt to return to normal after what was a fantastic weekend in Birmingham, here are a few highlights from Topcon’s perspective of the biggest annual optical show.
This year Topcon are celebrating their 85th year of business, and what a better way to commemorate such an achievement than rewarding customers with a number of different incentives, which they offered over the weekend, from a low start finance offer, where you only pay £1+VAT per month for the first year, to outstanding deals on equipment, there was something to suit everyone.
Topcon’s stands were as busy as ever, with enthusiastic delegates arriving as soon as the show had opened its doors........
“We had yet another fantastic Optrafair, and the shows new format and design certainly provided a fantastic platform for us to meet with our customers and to show off the wide range of technologies that we had on offer.
As always there was major interest in OCT and some of the new developments including the Triton Swept Source OCT and OCT Angiography.
Topcon University provided a wide range of on-stand education opportunities and the education booth was full from the start to the finish of the show” “We also had a dedicated stand this year for i-Clarity, our increasingly popular business management software, and we were simply inundated all weekend with enthusiastic customers looking to replace their existing systems” commented Graham Trevor, Sales Director at Topcon GB Ltd.
Topcon also sponsored Sunday’s Keynote Lecture where Dr Carl Glittenberg discussed ‘New Highlights in Swept Source OCT Imaging and Angiography: the future of retinal diagnosis’. “He presented some fantastic clinical cases to show why swept source is so much more valuable as an early detection tool than spectral domain. He showed cases where the data presented by the Swept Source Triton was much more superior to a standard spectral domain scan, showing how it is possible to misdiagnose with missing data.” highlights Tim Cole, Topcon’s lead educator on OCT.
Optrafair delegates had the chance to see the latest release of Topcon’s now every growing successful practice management software, i-Clarity. Amongst its well-received clinical records module, where paperless records of a visit is visible in its entirety on a single form. Other features for improved practice efficiency, such as staff rota’s and full stock re-ordering system were demonstrated, and for those who were still not convinced, a number of Topcon Brand Ambassadors were present on the stand, to give their opinions on i-Clarity, an opportunity to get real time review and experiences.
In addition, their Topcon University stand offered complimentary sessions, with over 60 CET points up for grabs over the three days and covered a variety of topics such as Eye Nutritional Supplements Fact or Fiction held by Dr Scott Mackie, Vitreo Retinal OCT Case Study with Nicholas Rumney, Anterior Segment and Contact Lenses with Brian Tompkins and Glaucoma OCT discussion workshops.
All 20 on-stand sessions were exceptionally well attended with waiting lists on many. A total of 113 practitioners attended the CET sessions, acquiring an accumulation of 339 CET points over the three days of the show.
The company decided to support Vision Aid Overseas and came very close to hitting their fundraising target of £10,000 by donating money to its chosen charity, for every purchase made on Topcon’s stand over the three days of the show.
