BCLA Technology Sponsor, Topcon, celebrates their 85th year of business
Celebrating 85 years of business, and the proud technology sponsor of BCLA, Topcon will be showcasing their Swept Source DRI OCT Triton which is still the worlds only posterior segment swept source OCT. The Triton is a multimodal platform linking traditional and cutting edge imaging technology with one software platform.
Topcon’s 3D OCT-1 Maestro is fully automated, producing 50,000 A-scans per second and can capture both eyes in under 60 seconds; and the unique TRK-2P instrument, providing objective refraction, keratometry; non-contact tonometry and pachymetry all in one.
Also on show for the first time in the UK will be the Eye-Light® IPL and LLLT dry eye treatment platform, which combines light modulation with OPE. This unique platform treats both the lower and upper Meibomian glands and has the added benefit of not needing the application of gel during the treatment process.
For practice owners looking to invest or upgrade to an electronic practice management system, Topcon’s i-Clarity will be showcased with particular attention to its latest features. Amongst its well-received clinical records module, there are further improvements on practice efficiency, such as the staff rota and full stock re-ordering system. Rob Ward (i-Clarity Project Director) comments “no practice that has implemented the i-Clarity clinical record module has ever gone back to using paper!”
Tim Cole, UK and European Clinical Imaging Applications and Training Manager for Topcon (GB) Ltd will be exploring the anterior segment with the use of Triton Swept Source OCT in the Pavilion on Saturday 10th June 10.30-10.45. Tim will be delving into the relatively ‘under’ researched area of anterior OCT, identifying anatomy, pathology and experimentation with the latest revolution in ophthalmology, OCT Angiography. Additionally, Tim will be discussing how swept source OCT differs from conventional spectral domain and the enhanced possibilities it can provide for visualising deep anterior structures, corneal sections and contact lens placement.
Topcon’s Technology Sponsor Presentation will be held by Dr Catharine Chisholm, Senior Manager, Global Education and Clinical Affairs, Topcon Eyecare Company, on Sunday 11th June, 13.15-13.30 in Hall 1A (Level 1).
Catharine’s talk will look at ocular surface disease (OSD) with particular focus on dry eye. Catharine will review the more discriminatory diagnostic tests available for evaluating and classifying OSD, including Meibomian gland imaging, tear meniscus measurements, sectorial quantification of non-invasive break-up time, and of course, anterior surface assessment. The use of these metrics to monitor the effectiveness of interventions will also be discussed.
For more information on any of the above visit Topcon at the ACC in Liverpool 9th – 11th June.
